Biggest Roadblocks During Egg Donation

Today's blog was written by Lindsey, one of our case managers.

Some of the biggest roadblocks we run into during a match are almost always preventable. From a lack of transparency to blackout dates, most of these are issue we can work around.

Transparency

Being completely transparent about your availability, desire to donate, and the support you have in your life are very important. The more open you are with your donor coordinator and case manager, the smoother this process will be.

Know your schedule

We encourage donors to let us know of any and all black out dates, even if the black out dates are just a couple days here and there. Knowing your work and school schedule at all times is also very helpful so that we can help you and plan your travel and medications around this.

The "Right Reasons"

Aside from scheduling roadblocks, it is very important to know why you want to donate. Compensation is a very important part of this process for donors, but this is not a quick process. We typically tell donors and intended parents that this process can take anywhere from 4-6 months to complete from the day of match to donation day.

Support

Having support from family and friends will make this process easier knowing you have people to rely on if this starts to feel overwhelming. Your case manager will always be there to walk you through your match, but your loved ones should be there for you to lean on as well.
